FITS 2016-2020 CAMARO ( LS/LT MODELS )
DESCRIPTION:
Build your 2016-2020 Chevrolet Camaro 2.0L Turbo 6-speed manual for serious competition use with the Clutch Masters 04302-HDB6-X FX500 6-Puck Clutch Kit. Designed strictly for race applications, the FX500 delivers a manufacturer-rated 200-400% increase in holding capacity and pairs Clutch Masters' Power Plus II Pressure Plate with a rigid 6-puck ceramic-button disc for exceptionally fast engagement, high clamping force, and rapid heat dissipation. The FX500 sits at the extreme end of Clutch Masters' single-disc lineup. Unlike the FX100, FX250, FX300, and FX350 systems that retain some degree of street-oriented drivability, the FX500 is built around a solid-hub, unsprung disc designed to engage and disengage instantly. Clutch Masters explicitly labels the FX500 as "RACE ONLY" and warns that its ceramic paddle design produces rapid engagement, heavy pedal effort, and clutch chatter that make it unsuitable for normal street use. The 04302-HDB6-X uses Clutch Masters' Power Plus II Pressure Plate. This heavy-duty design incorporates a high-leverage geometry, heavy-duty straps, precision heat-treated stacked diaphragms, and exceptionally high clamping force. A special friction-reducing lubricant is also used to help prevent diaphragm binding. The result is the clamping force necessary to support the FX500's dramatically higher torque capacity, although Clutch Masters notes that pedal pressure is correspondingly heavy. On the friction side, this specific FX500 configuration uses a segmented 6-puck ceramic-button disc. Premium ceramic friction material provides the high coefficient of friction and rapid heat dissipation necessary for repeated high-load launches and motorsports use. The disc uses a solid hub with no Marcel spring, eliminating the compliance found in street-oriented clutch discs and producing the immediate engagement required in competition. That rigid design is precisely why the FX500 should be reserved for dedicated race or highly specialized competition vehicles. A solid-hub ceramic clutch transmits drivetrain shock far more directly than a sprung organic, Kevlar, or Fiber-Tough disc. Clutch Masters specifically warns that the FX500 engages and disengages instantly and that the ceramic paddle design will produce chatter. For a street-driven Camaro, one of the lower FX-series stages is typically the more appropriate choice. Clutch Masters supplies the FX500 as a complete clutch kit including the clutch disc, pressure plate, release/throwout bearing, pilot bearing when applicable, alignment tool, instruction card, and decals. The system is also SFI 1.2 certified for competition use in sanctioning bodies including NHRA, IHRA, SCCA, NASA, and others listed by Clutch Masters. For a dedicated 2016-2020 Camaro 2.0L Turbo race build requiring maximum single-disc clutch capacity, the Clutch Masters 04302-HDB6-X FX500 provides an exceptionally aggressive solution with 200-400% increased holding capacity, a rigid 6-puck ceramic disc, Power Plus II pressure plate, and competition-oriented construction.

Important Notes
- The FX500 is a RACE ONLY clutch.
- The ceramic paddle design is not recommended for street use.
- Ceramic clutch discs are never recommended for stock or near-stock vehicle applications.
- Ceramic friction material is intended primarily to increase holding capacity and improve durability under high-load conditions rather than maximize clutch service life.
- Using a ceramic clutch for easy street driving can actually reduce clutch life because of the material's harsh engagement characteristics and the greater tendency to slip the clutch during normal driving.
- The FX500 is intended for aggressive race launches and high-load competition environments rather than commuting or stop-and-go street driving.
- Clutch Masters also offers custom FX500 configurations using sintered-iron friction material for full drag-race applications operating under extreme conditions. Those systems are custom-built and are different from the standard 6-puck ceramic configuration.
- The complete kit includes the clutch disc and pressure plate.
- The confirmed Clutch Masters flywheel is FW-302-AL.
- Do not assume that the original dual-mass flywheel or another manufacturer's aftermarket flywheel is compatible with this clutch kit.
- Because this is a rigid-hub clutch, drivetrain shock loads can be significantly higher than with a sprung-hub street clutch. The condition of the transmission, differential, axles, driveshaft, mounts, and related drivetrain components should be considered when using this system.
- The FX500's instantaneous engagement can place substantially higher shock loads on driveline components during hard launches.
- Professional installation is strongly recommended for a race-oriented clutch of this type.
