DESCRIPTION:
Upgrade the front braking system on your 2020+ Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51 with the DBA Brakes DBA53928BLKXD 5000 Series XD 2-Piece Front Brake Rotors. DBA's premium 5000 Series combines composite two-piece construction, lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum center hats, high-carbon cast-iron friction rings, and advanced thermal-management technology in a direct-replacement performance brake rotor. The DBA53928BLKXD features DBA's XD friction-surface design, which combines cross-drilled holes and dimples. DBA describes the XD design as non-directional and states that it provides additional cooling benefits over its HD finish while adding a distinctive performance appearance. The combination of drilled holes and dimples is specifically designed to provide greater structural support than traditional cross-drilled designs. Each complete rotor combines the high-carbon cast-iron friction ring with a lightweight T6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum center hat secured using National Aerospace Standards bolts and crimp nuts. DBA specifically identifies the internal vane design as KP Vents, confirming the use of its Kangaroo Paw cooling architecture on this rotor. DBA's 5000 Series two-piece construction offers additional weight reduction and improved heat management compared with a conventional single-piece rotor. According to DBA, the aerospace-grade aluminum center hat reduces unsprung rotor weight, allows uniform radial expansion of the cast-iron friction ring, and reduces heat transfer from the disc into the wheel hub. Thermal performance is further enhanced through DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling, center-split core casting, high-carbon alloyed iron formulation, and Kangaroo Paw ventilation technology. DBA states that its TSP heat-treatment cycles realign the iron's microstructure to improve rotor stability and durability, while the Kangaroo Paw vane architecture provides up to 20% better heat dissipation. Additional 5000 Series technology includes a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned friction surface designed to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock, thermographic heat-paint markings for monitoring brake temperatures and rotor fatigue, and anti-rust protection on non-friction surfaces. Another important benefit of the 5000 Series is serviceability. DBA offers complete assemblies for initial replacement as well as individual replacement hats and friction rings. This allows compatible DBA 5000 Series aluminum hats to be reused with DBA replacement rings when the original friction rings eventually reach their service limit. One particularly important distinction with DBA53928BLKXD is intended use. Although DBA generally recommends its 5000 Series for high-performance street vehicles, track days, club racing, rally applications, and show vehicles, DBA explicitly states that XD rotors are not recommended for track use. Therefore, this drilled-and-dimpled version is best positioned as a premium high-performance street rotor with enhanced appearance and cooling rather than as the preferred 5000 Series option for sustained track use.

Important Notes
- DBA states that the XD finish provides cooling benefits above its HD finish while also providing enhanced sports aesthetics.
- The XD design uses a combination of dimples and drilled holes rather than relying entirely on through-drilled holes. DBA states that this approach provides enhanced structural support compared with traditional cross-drilled techniques.
- DBA's 5000 Series combines high-carbon cast-iron friction rings with aerospace-grade T6061-T6 aluminum center hats.
- Reducing unsprung rotor weight can contribute to improved vehicle handling.
- The composite design also allows uniform radial expansion throughout the cast-iron friction rings as temperatures change.
- DBA applies Thermal Stability Profiling to increase rotor stability and durability by realigning the microstructure of the iron through controlled heat-treatment cycles.
- Center-split core castings are used to increase heat transfer and thermal efficiency.
- DBA's high-carbon alloyed iron formulation is designed to interact optimally with Thermal Stability Profiling and increase the rotor's ability to handle constant and extreme heat over prolonged periods.
- The Kangaroo Paw vane architecture provides up to 20% better heat dissipation, helping improve braking effectiveness and brake life.
- A Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned finish is used to minimize disc-thickness variation and reduce the potential for pad knock and resulting premature wear.
- Thermographic Heat Paint markings change color at specific temperature thresholds to assist with monitoring brake temperatures and rotor fatigue.
