DESCRIPTION:
Upgrade the rear braking system on your 2020+ Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51 with the DBA Brakes DBA53929BLKXD 5000 Series XD 2-Piece Rear Brake Rotors. Designed as a composite two-piece direct-replacement performance rotor, the DBA 5000 Series combines high-carbon cast-iron friction rings with lightweight aerospace-grade aluminum center hats for reduced unsprung weight, improved heat management, and premium braking performance. Unlike DBA's T3 slotted configuration, the DBA53929BLKXD features the company's XD friction-surface design, combining cross-drilled holes and dimples in a non-directional pattern. DBA states that the XD finish provides additional cooling benefits over its HD finish while delivering enhanced sports aesthetics. The combination of dimples and drilled holes is also designed to provide greater structural support than traditional cross-drilled techniques. DBA specifically identifies the internal vane design as KP Vents and the friction surface as Cross Drilled/Dimpled. DBA's 5000 Series composite construction combines high-carbon cast-iron rings with aerospace-grade T6061-T6 aluminum hats secured using National Aerospace Standards bolts and crimp nuts. According to DBA, the lightweight aluminum hats reduce unsprung rotor weight, allow uniform radial expansion of the cast-iron friction rings, and reduce heat transfer from the discs to the wheel hubs. Thermal performance is further supported by DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling, high-carbon alloyed iron formulation, center-split core casting, and Kangaroo Paw ventilation technology. DBA states that its TSP heat-treatment cycles realign the microstructure of the iron for increased rotor stability and durability, while its Kangaroo Paw vane design provides up to 20% better heat dissipation. Additional 5000 Series technology includes DBA Aluma-Lite center hats, a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned finish designed to minimize disc-thickness variation and potential pad knock, anti-rust protection on non-friction areas, and thermographic heat-paint markings that change color at specific temperature thresholds to help monitor braking temperatures and rotor fatigue. The DBA 5000 Series also provides a serviceable two-piece architecture. DBA offers complete assemblies for initial replacement as well as individual replacement hats and friction rings, allowing compatible DBA 5000 Series hats to be reused with DBA replacement rings when appropriate. One important distinction is the intended use of the XD surface design. Although DBA generally recommends its 5000 Series for high-performance street vehicles, track days, club racing, rally applications, and show vehicles, the manufacturer specifically states that XD rotors are not recommended for track use.

Important Notes
- DBA states that the XD finish provides additional cooling benefits over its HD finish while providing enhanced sports aesthetics.
- DBA's 5000 Series combines high-carbon cast-iron friction rings with aerospace-grade T6061-T6 aluminum center hats.
- DBA's Aluma-Lite center hat is manufactured from lightweight 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum.
- DBA states that the aluminum center hat reduces unsprung rotor weight, which can contribute to improved vehicle handling.
- The aluminum center hat also minimizes heat transfer from the brake disc into the wheel hub.
- DBA applies Thermal Stability Profiling heat-treatment cycles to realign the microstructure of the iron for increased rotor stability and durability.
- Center-split core castings are designed to increase heat transfer and thermal efficiency.
- DBA's high-carbon alloyed iron formulation is designed to work optimally with Thermal Stability Profiling and increase the rotor's ability to handle constant and extreme heat over prolonged periods.
- The Kangaroo Paw vane design can provide up to 20% better heat dissipation, increasing braking effectiveness and helping prolong brake life.
- DBA uses a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned finish designed to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock and resulting premature wear.
- Thermographic Heat Paint markings change color at specific temperature thresholds to assist with monitoring braking temperatures and rotor fatigue.
