DESCRIPTION:

Upgrade the rear braking system on your 2020+ Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51 with the DBA Brakes DBA53929BLKS T3 5000 Series Rear Brake Rotors. DBA describes the 5000 Series T3 as its ultimate direct-replacement two-piece performance brake rotor, combining the benefits of its premium 5000 Series construction with the company's patented T3 bi-directional slot design. DBA's 5000 Series uses composite two-piece construction combining high-carbon cast-iron friction rings with lightweight aerospace-grade T6061-T6 aluminum center hats. The components are secured using National Aerospace Standards bolts and crimp nuts. This construction provides the braking technology of DBA's 4000 Series while adding further weight reduction and improved heat management through the aluminum center hats. According to DBA, the aluminum hat reduces unsprung rotor weight, allows more uniform radial expansion of the cast-iron friction ring, and reduces heat transfer from the disc into the wheel hub. These characteristics make the 5000 Series particularly well suited to performance vehicles subjected to demanding braking conditions. The DBA53929BLKS also incorporates DBA's patented T3 slot design. T3 builds upon the company's T2 slot configuration with additional precision CNC-machined tri-symmetrical slots. The increased number of exit paths allows brake-pad friction dust and gases to escape from the friction interface, which DBA says improves the consistency and effectiveness of braking while providing a quieter, smoother, and more responsive braking experience. Thermal performance is further enhanced through DBA's high-carbon alloyed iron formulation, Thermal Stability Profiling, center-split core casting, and Kangaroo Paw ventilation system. DBA states that Thermal Stability Profiling realigns the microstructure of the iron for increased rotor stability and durability, while the Kangaroo Paw vane architecture can provide up to 20% better heat dissipation. Additional performance technology includes a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned friction surface designed to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock, anti-rust protection on non-friction surfaces, and thermographic heat-paint markings that change color at specific temperature thresholds to assist with monitoring braking temperatures and rotor fatigue. Another major advantage of the DBA 5000 Series is serviceability. DBA offers complete assemblies for initial replacement as well as individual replacement hats and friction rings, allowing compatible DBA aluminum hats to be reused with replacement DBA rings when appropriate. DBA recommends the 5000 Series for high-performance street vehicles, track days, club racing, rally applications, and show vehicles. The DBA53929BLKS provides a premium two-piece rear rotor upgrade combining lightweight aluminum hats, high-carbon friction rings, T3 slotting, advanced thermal management, and serviceable two-piece construction.

Important Notes

  • The aluminum hat reduces unsprung rotor weight, which can contribute to improved vehicle handling.
  • The aluminum center hat also minimizes heat transfer from the brake disc into the wheel hub.
  • DBA uses National Aerospace Standards bolts and crimp nuts to connect the components, providing high strength while minimizing unnecessary weight.
  • The two-piece design allows uniform radial expansion throughout the cast-iron friction ring as operating temperatures change.
  • The T3 design increases the consistency and effectiveness of each braking event while providing a quieter, smoother, and more responsive braking experience.
  • DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling uses heat-treatment cycles to realign the microstructure of the iron, increasing rotor stability and durability.
  • Center-split core castings are used for increased heat dissipation and thermal efficiency.
  • DBA's high-carbon alloyed iron formulation is designed for optimal interaction with Thermal Stability Profiling and increased capacity to withstand constant and extreme heat over prolonged periods.
  • The Kangaroo Paw vane design provides up to 20% better heat dissipation, increasing braking effectiveness and helping prolong brake life.
  • DBA uses a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned finish designed to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock and resulting premature wear.
  • Thermographic heat-paint markings change color at specific temperature thresholds to help monitor braking temperatures and rotor fatigue.
