DESCRIPTION:

Upgrade the front braking system on your 2020+ Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z51 with the DBA Brakes DBA53928BLKS T3 5000 Series Front Brake Rotors. Designed as DBA's premium direct-replacement two-piece performance rotor platform, the DBA53928BLKS combines high-carbon cast-iron friction rings with lightweight aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum center hats for improved heat management, reduced unsprung weight, and high-performance braking capability. Each complete rotor consists of the friction ring and aluminum center hat assembled using National Aerospace Standards (NAS) bolts and crimp nuts. DBA's two-piece construction combines high-carbon cast-iron rings with its Aluma-Lite center hats manufactured from lightweight T6061-T6 aerospace-grade aluminum. According to DBA, the aluminum hats reduce unsprung rotor weight, promote uniform radial expansion of the cast-iron friction rings, and reduce heat transfer from the discs into the wheel hubs. The DBA53928BLKS also incorporates DBA's patented T3 bi-directional slot design. T3 builds upon the company's T2 slot configuration with additional precision CNC-machined tri-symmetrical slots. These slots provide additional exit paths for brake-pad friction dust and gases, which DBA states improves braking consistency and effectiveness while contributing to a quieter, smoother, and more responsive pedal feel. Thermal management is further enhanced through DBA's high-carbon alloyed iron formulation, Thermal Stability Profiling, center-split core casting, and Kangaroo Paw ventilation system. DBA states that Thermal Stability Profiling realigns the microstructure of the iron to improve rotor stability and durability, while the Kangaroo Paw vane design can provide up to 20% better heat dissipation. Additional performance features include a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned friction surface to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock, anti-rust protection on non-friction areas, and thermographic heat-paint markings that change color at predetermined temperatures to assist with monitoring brake temperatures and rotor fatigue. DBA recommends its 5000 Series for high-performance street vehicles, track days, club racing, rally applications, and show vehicles. An additional advantage of the 5000 Series architecture is serviceability: after purchasing the complete assembly, DBA offers replacement friction rings that allow compatible DBA aluminum hats to be reused rather than replacing the entire two-piece rotor assembly.

Important Notes

  • The aluminum hat reduces unsprung rotor weight, which can benefit vehicle handling.
  • The aluminum hat also minimizes heat transfer from the friction ring into the wheel hub.
  • DBA uses National Aerospace Standards bolts and crimp nuts to connect the components, providing high strength while minimizing unnecessary weight.
  • The T3 increases the number of exit points for brake-pad friction dust and gases, improving the consistency and effectiveness of braking.
  • The high-carbon alloyed iron friction rings are engineered to work with DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling process and withstand constant and extreme heat over prolonged periods.
  • DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling uses heat-treatment cycles to realign the microstructure of the iron, increasing rotor stability and durability.
  • Center-split core castings are used to improve heat dissipation and thermal efficiency.
  • The Kangaroo Paw design provides up to 20% better heat dissipation, helping increase braking effectiveness and prolong brake life.
  • DBA uses a Cubic Boron Nitride machine-turned friction surface to minimize disc-thickness variation and the potential for pad knock and premature wear.
  • Thermographic heat-paint markings change color at specific temperature thresholds to help monitor brake temperatures and rotor fatigue.
